“What a treat it is to become acquainted with her family’s cast of characters!”
––Review of Texas Books

“Warmth, humor, and fond remembrance waft through this beautifully worded and evocatively illustrated exploration of a young girl’s family tree.”
––justonemorebook.com

One rainy day, little Annie asks Grandma Marilyn about her family’s history and goes on a genealogical adventure she will never forget. Grandma Marilyn knows just how to tell a story, and when she shows Annie the old, dusty photographs of the past, every aunt and uncle, cousin and friend, seems to come to life in each picture. Grandma Marilyn shows Annie old letters that contain forgotten secrets of the past and a fragile bouquet thrown at a long-ago wedding. She touches the medal her uncle won in the military and learns that her Great-Grandpa Louis bet on horses while Great-Grandma Sadie sewed sequins on dresses to earn the money back. Annie is fascinated by the old mementos of her relatives and becomes determined to celebrate the exciting history of her family.

The most unique relative of all is Aunt Claire with her yellow beehive hair. Aunt Claire was famous for the beauty creams she concocted in her kitchen and always wore a purple ribbon wrapped around her hair. Inspired by her Aunt Claire, Annie creates a special scrapbook with space at the end to add to as her family continues to grow.
