Noteworthy Events

Pelican would like to congratulate their home team, the Saints, for winning the Super Bowl. Before the Saints were synonymous with New Orleans, Dave Dixon was gathering support to create a team and build a superdome to accommodate them. The man affectionately known as the "Father of the Saints" is the author of The Saints, the Superdome, and the Scandal ($24.95). Dixon, who was named one of the "Ten Most Important New Orleanians of the Twentieth Century," gives an insider’s perspective on the historical events that shaped the New Orleans sports scene.

Jerald and Glenda Horst, coauthors of The Louisiana Seafood Bible: Crawfish ($25.00), will appear for a cooking segment and interview on WGNO’s Good Morning New Orleans during the 6:00 am hour on March 24.

Donald L. Gilmore will speak on his latest book, Riding Vengeance with the James Gang ($23.00), and its connection to the Civil War in Missouri. The event will take place at the Missouri Convention of the Sons of the Confederacy

Charlie Russell: Tale-Telling Cowboy Artist

The children’s biography is the author’s second book highlighting an important artist. Her first, Mary Cassatt: Impressionist Painter ($15.95), was released in 2007.
