Siri has been consistently improved with each software update from Apple, revealing that the voice command software is here for the long haul. For those who have upgraded to iOS 8, Siri has a new feature that makes accessing the benefits of its program even easier than pushing the home button.

If you’re really lazy, or you’re driving and need to be on the go, you can set Siri to begin the command process by simply saying “Hey Siri” within the vicinity of your iPhone. This will activate Siri, without you ever even having to touching the phone. The only caveat, and it’s a big one, is that the iPhone needs to be plugged into a power source in order for this feature to be active.

Still, it’s a convenient way to make commands, and helps keep your hands on the wheel while driving. Ready to turn start yelling at Siri? Follow the steps below.

Hey Siri

  • Head over to Settings then tap on General.

  • Scroll down to select Siri and slide on the Allow “Hey Siri” feature to the on position (just make sure the green is showing).

Now plug in your iPhone and you’ll be able to enjoy the perks of Siri hands free.
